The Tournament

  • It’s time for our 2nd annual Face Off Against Meningitis. As we go about our business this summer it is important to remember the three individuals who we lost last year at approximately this time. Nick Smith, Brian Wormus and Bill Jubert. These guys were our family members and teammates and we miss their presence in the locker room and on the ice. We need to take time to honor their memory and help spread the word about meningitis and how we can prevent the spread of this disease. As hockey players we can help prevent the spread of this disease with a few minor changes to our behaviors. Not sharing water bottles and refraining from spitting on and around the bench are simple ways to help reduce the risk among others. Also, taking the time to get vacinated while encouraging others to do the same. There are many organizations that help educate about meningitis and still others that help with vacination clinics. One such local organization is Sierrasraceagainstmeningitis.com. This organization has helped many people get vacinated against this disease while helping the families that have lost loved ones along the way.

  • Let’s get together for the 2nd annual F.O.A.M. tournament this year at EPIC in Ft. Collins Colorado. Help us continue to honor our teammates and assist their family foundations finacially. 90% of proceeds from this tournament will go to the families of last year victims while 10% will go to Sierra’s Race for continued education and future vacines.

  • This year we will have 3 divisions: recreation, intermediate, and competitive. The tournament will start Saturday August 13 and continue on Sunday the 14th. Games will consist of 3 run time periods of 12,12 and 15 minute lengths with a 3 minute warm up. This will be a double elimination tournament (may change to round robin or pool play depending on number of teams signed up). All other rules will be the same as FCAHA (fcaha.org). Fighting and unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and will be dealt with on an individual basis by the tournament director and head refferee and may result in ejection from the remainder of the tournament. All players must sign the roster/waiver prior to playing in their first game.
